Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) December 14, 2012

Dan Ruminski and coauthor Alan Dutka have released their new book, "Cleveland in the Gilded Age - A Stroll Down Millionaires' Row." Published by The History Press, and featuring 160 pages with over 80 images, the book presents Cleveland when it was the heart of industry and one of the grandest areas in the country. Coinciding the book, Dan Ruminski has released a DVD of one of his performances at the Coulby Mansion, sharing stories of Millionaires' Mile and the great estates and families of Wickliffe, Ohio.

Cleveland storyteller Dan Ruminski interest in Cleveland history began when he discovered that the six acres under his home were originally part of a 1,400-acre grand estate known as the Circle W Farm created by Walter White, founding brother of the White Motor Company. Drawn in by the fascinating history, Ruminski's investigation soon embraced the full legacy of Cleveland's industrial history and the indomitable characters who created the city's Gilded Age. John D. Rockefeller, Francis Drury, Samuel Mather and more giants of industry built Cleveland's Millionaires' Row.

Mr. Ruminski started off sharing these stories with small groups, but was soon speaking of Cleveland's glory days to large, full house audiences. He speaks without notes, teleprompters or lecterns. Dan Ruminski creates a spellbinding entertainment experience - The Storyteller in his chair, sharing unique stories of Cleveland's past. Audiences began to ask him to write a book, or create DVDs of his stories.

Those requests led to the new book, "Cleveland in the Gilded Age - A Stroll Down Millionaires' Row," along with the DVD "The Great Estates of Wickliffe." The latter was videoed at the Coulby Mansion, now City Hall for the City of Wickliffe, Ohio. This DVD shows Dan entertaining the audience with stories tying Cleveland to the movie "The Kings Speech," plus interesting stories of the Rockefeller, Corrigan, McKinney and Coulby families. The stories of these families would rival any Greek tragedy.

Dan's research is based not only on published works, but also on interviews of the friends and descendants of the families of the era. This enables Ruminski and Dutka to reveal dramatic details and unheard stories of when Cleveland was one of the most progressive and wealthy cities, and the home of people and inventions that changed the world.

"Dan's stories have been exciting and educational. His relaxed style of storytelling allows his audience to listen to history as if they are living it!" says Katherine Malmquist, Gates Mills Branch Mgr., Cuyahoga County Public Library.

The book offers a peek inside the once-grand mansions these millionaires called home, relating delightful stories that bring the past to life. Join Ruminski and Alan Dutka on a return to this section of Euclid Avenue, which wasn't merely the most stunning show of wealth in Cleveland but also in the entire country. About
The authors' research into the history of Cleveland is intended to help promote the city, and counter the old, worn and unflattering Cleveland stereotypes. Their shared mission is to explore Cleveland's unique history with regard to the many "first's" - inventions, inventors, etc. - that led the city to national and world recognition.

Using his little-known, carefully researched stories, Dan Ruminski, aka The Cleveland Storyteller, creates entertaining presentations of this history. Mr. Ruminski is also using his stories to help raise funds for the Willoughby Rotary Autism Project that uses all proceeds to purchase iPads for autistic children. Portions of Dan's book proceeds are being donated to the Willoughby Rotary Foundation for this cause.
