Remsoft's Latest Software Release Addresses the Growing Complexities of Today's Planning Challenges

With today's planning complexities and shoe string budgets, spatial optimization is paramount in meeting the bottom line.

Fredericton, New Brunswick (PRWEB) December 12, 2012

Remsoft Inc., a world leader in providing optimization technology that empowers organizations to maximize the performance and value of their assets, today announced the launch of their latest version of the Woodstock Optimization Platform. With 64-bit capability as well as more than 20 new features, this release is focused on the platform's ease of use and memory management.

Remsoft clients face an increasing number of challenges in today's business world, managing many high value assets with numerous conflicting priorities. The company's greatest strength lies in solving large and complex problems using mathematical optimization at any planning stage along a business' value chain. Although the company started out as a ‘harvest scheduling company', it has since evolved over the years and is now tackling very broad and far reaching planning challenges.

Clients use Remsoft software to develop their strategic, tactical and operational plans, as well as for production, delivery, and sales & operational planning. Examples of the diversity in planning scenarios include: Valuation, NPV/cash flow analysis, resource supply forecasting, annual allowable extraction determination, habitat management, harvest allocation to regions, policy planning, capital planning, regulatory compliance, spatially constrained scheduling, contractor assignment, and optimizing harvest/transport options.

“Natural Resource planning and scheduling challenges are among the most complex in the world,” says Ugo Feunekes, Remsoft's CTO and Co-Founder. “Our team has invested a huge amount of time and effort to move the software to 64 bit capability, giving access to more memory for building larger models that address the ever-increasing complexity of the natural resource industry. So now you can switch between 32 and 64 bit seamlessly – all at the click of a mouse.”

“And we can thank our clients for the ideas leading to many of the new features in this release including the charting of upper and lower bounds for constraints and syntax compare capability,” continued Feunekes. “It is their continuous interest, involvement and feedback that propel our R&D forward into new advances in our technology.”

A few highlights of this release include:

Comparing Syntax across Scenarios Feature: Integrated into the Woodstock Optimization System and much like a text editor, Comparing Syntax allows you to determine the differences between two model scenarios because it highlights those differences in syntax for you. The feature is already an in-house favourite, as you can quickly revisit scenarios months after they were built and easily determine the logic behind the changes.

Output Bounds for Woodstock Constraints and Allocation Optimizer Delivery Constraints: An easy and effective way to visualize a constraint's upper and lower bound of a particular output in the graphics section. Simply select the output, drag it to the graphics screen and the output value with its upper and lower bounds are displayed, making it very quick to determine which constraints are constraint bounds.

Spatial Simulation (Assign Schedule to Polygon): The spatial planning feature within Woodstock that automatically assigns treatments to GIS polygons has been enhanced. Now you can automatically assign unique block names to groups of polygons based on proximity as the treatments are assigned to polygons. This makes many of the tools and reports in both spatial Woodstock and the Remsoft Tactical Planner that rely on block names, to be used.
