Mike Stefanski Named to Lead Investor Relations for Verizon Communications

NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mike Stefanski, who currently serves as senior vice president and treasurer for Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ), has been named senior vice president - Investor Relations, effective Jan. 1, 2013.

Stefanski will be Verizon's primary liaison with the investment community and Verizon's shareholders, and continue to report to Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo. The current head of Investor Relations, John Doherty, has been named to lead Verizon's Strategic Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures organization.

As corporate treasurer, Stefanski has been responsible for corporatewide financing, cash management, pension and insurance activities, as well as for Verizon Capital Group, which provides asset-based financing, tax-credit investment activities and enterprise customer financing. A successor as corporate treasurer will be named at a later date.

Stefanski brings more than two decades of experience in telecommunications and finance to his new role in Investor Relations.

Before becoming treasurer last year, Stefanski served as chief financial officer - Verizon Consumer and Mass Business and Global Wholesale, responsible for financial planning, analysis and reporting, and strategic development activities for the company's consumer and business groups.

Prior to that, Stefanski served as vice president and controller at Verizon Wireless, where he was responsible for accounting, external financial reporting and financial operations for the wireless business unit.

Since joining Verizon predecessor company Bell Atlantic in 1990, Stefanski has held management positions of increasing responsibility, including internal audit, financial operations, strategy and planning, and corporate finance.  Before joining Bell Atlantic, he worked at Ernst & Young as a certified public accountant.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from Villanova University.  He is a member of the Junior Achievement of New Jersey State Board and the board of trustees for the Quaker School of Horsham, Pa.
