SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Indiegogo, the largest global crowdfunding platform, announces new offerings in key global markets -- including local currencies, languages and localized search and discovery experiences. Some of these new capabilities launch immediately in the UK, Germany, France and Canada as part of Indiegogo's continued focus on improving the customer experience and providing relevant local market content for campaign owners and funders.

Indiegogo's open and global platform empowers anyone, anywhere to launch a crowdfunding campaign at any time, for any idea – creative, cause-related or entrepreneurial. The diversity of the platform has reached each of the world's 196 countries, through its campaigns.

The initial release of Indiegogo's international features includes:

  • Currencies: In addition to the US Dollar, transactions are now available in Euros, Pounds Sterling and Canadian Dollars.
  • Languages: French and German will be available in December.
  • Localization: Indiegogo will be offering localized versions of the homepage and search and discovery experiences for British, French, German and Canadian users in early 2013, to highlight local campaigns.

“Indiegogo puts our customers first, which is why broadening our international offerings is a priority, enabling us to bring our unique experience and open and inclusive business model to more people than ever before,” said Danae Ringelmann, Indiegogo co-founder. “We remain committed to localizing our international platform to empower campaign owners for success and give funders a satisfying discovery experience. We've laid a great foundation to continue global growth in the months ahead.”

In August, Indiegogo announced a partnership with Google and Stiftung Entrepreneurship to foster entrepreneurship through the Gründer-Garage initiative – an online competition for German-speaking entrepreneurs to promote innovation and financing through the Internet. The competition garnered significant traction in the German market: 177 small business and entrepreneurial campaigns competed, raising more than 320.000€ with Google's 10.000€ in matching funds. This was Indiegogo's first focused international endeavor that rolled out de.indiegogo.com, a localized version of www.indiegogo.com in German and broadened funding and payments options in Euros for participants of the competition.
