Nail Salons Pose Dangers, Liability
Unclean nail salons can lead to serious infections, surgery and amputation. Attorney Michael Steinger says these infections are on the rise and victims have options.

Nail salons are places of relaxation. A trip to a salon or spa is a chance to be pampered, looking and feeling your best. But record numbers of Florida salons are cutting corners in terms of hygiene and sanitation – leading to customers with serious infections and even amputations reported WPTV. Attorney Michael Steinger of InjuryLawyers.com Law Firm wants victims to know they have options.
Infections at nail salons can be caused by improperly cleaned equipment or pedicure tubs. Manicures or pedicures can both lead to mycobacterium infections, which spread virulently through the body unless skin and muscle are removed to stop them. According to Nancy King, a national salon educator, Florida is in the top five states for pedicure infections.
“These infections are preventable,” said Steinger, an injury attorney who helps victims understand their legal options against large companies. “Each state sets regulations for how salon equipment has to be cleaned. When salons don't follow the rules, they are directly responsible for the infections that result.”
Steinger says that many victims are too shocked to think clearly about liability issues.
“These infections develop rapidly and require immediate surgery,” he said. “A person's entire life can change in a single day. But it's important to remember that the law provides for compensation.”
“Dirty salons have to pay,” he added.
Compensation can include the cost of hospital bills, lost wages, and legal expenses, as well as other monetary awards, Steinger says.
“Obviously no amount of money will bring back a removed finger or heal the scars on your leg or foot,” Steinger said. “But you shouldn't have to pick up the bill for a salon's health violation, and you're entitled to significant dollars for your suffering.”
Steinger advises that it's important to act quickly. “A lawyer should be the first person you call after the doctor.”
