AmerisourceBergen Releases Podcast Highlighting Election's Impact on Health Policy

Health policy expert to outline what Obama's reelection means for fiscal cliff, future of healthcare

Valley Forge, PA (PRWEB) November 07, 2012

AmerisourceBergen Corporation today announced the release of a podcast outlining health policy implications from a second Obama administration – including the continued implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Peyton Howell, President of AmerisourceBergen Consulting Services, a national speaker and author on health policy related issues, including Medicare policy, health reform and patient access to care, recorded the podcast, which is available at http://www.lashgroup.com/resource_center/podcasts.

In her podcast, Ms. Howell will cover how a second Obama administration will affect access to healthcare, payment reform, quality initiatives and industry. More specifically, it will include:

  •     Key actions of a second Obama administration, including the individual mandate, Medicaid expansion, state insurance exchange implementation and the independent payment advisory board (IPAB) creation
  •     Solidification of trends occurring in the public and private sectors – some of which pre-dated the ACA and some of which the ACA spurred
  •     Steps manufacturers will need to take to succeed in the evolving healthcare marketplace

“First and foremost, Obama's reelection means the implementation of the ACA will move forward, which does provide some clarity on key patient access issues,” said Howell. “We expect to see a flurry of regulations released related to healthcare reform and expect economic pressures to continue, particularly in regards to the fiscal cliff and the mountain of challenges it will present with Medicare and Medicaid.”

Ms. Howell holds a Master in Health Administration (MHA) from Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois. She is a Trustee of the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy, and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
