Edmonton Valve & Fitting Inc. Rolls Out RoboCrib Inventory Management System for Gas and Liquid Processing Plants

Vending machine dispenses fluid system parts 24/7; maintains inventory reports; frees up labor for more important jobs

Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) November 05, 2012

Edmonton Valve & Fitting, Inc. has introduced RoboCrib, a high-tech vending machine that swiftly dispenses a wide range of components used in plants and facilities that process liquids or gasses. The configurable machines come in several different sizes so facilities can store 500, 1,1000 or 2,000 parts. The largest of the three dispensers has a footprint of slightly more than five feet by five feet. RoboCrib keeps track of who is taking parts and what job they're for. It even prepares inventory reports for management.

Here's how it works:
1. When someone needs a part, they log in with a user name and password, using RoboCrib's touch-screen keyboard.
2. The screen identifies the functions that person is authorized to perform, and the user interface provides realtime visibility to the facility's inventory.
3. Once the user types in the part they're looking for, the job number or purchase order, RoboCrib brings the right part to the front and automatically opens the door, all in less than 10 seconds and with a level of security unmatched in industry.

RoboCrib's software application manages all inventory transactions and supports multiple levels of control and security. With the secure access control, facility managers can limit the use of any inventory item to a specific quantity per day, week or month. RoboCrib can send instant alerts to management when a job is using an abnormal number of components. Managers can limit access by dollar amount, departmental budget, or time restrictions by shift.

Over 150 different reports are pre-designed and built into the system and the system interfaces with Swagelok's business system software.

The bins also are easy to reconfigure, so one machine can dispense parts as small as a single tube fitting and as large as a sample cylinder. The time between refills varies with the customer, of course. Some may need to restock once a week, others can go several weeks. It's especially useful in remote locations.

And the people who have to spend their time handing out fluid system parts and keeping track of inventory? RoboCrib frees them up to do more important work for the company.

Since 1965, Edmonton Valve & Fitting Inc. has been a locally owned and operated business, and an authorized sales and service center for Swagelok products to Northern and Central Alberta industry with unique products and reliable service. From its inception, the company has grown to a quality service organization of over 40 people with branch offices in Drayton Valley and Fort McMurray.
