Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 05, 2012

Over the past few years, recruiting firm PediaStaff has become known for its presence in numerous social media channels. The firm, which focuses on the placement of pediatric and school-based therapy clinicians, will share its social media expertise with therapists at the 2012 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention to be held Nov. 15-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

One of the two booths PediaStaff will maintain at the convention will house the “The PediaStaff Social Media Learning Center, Featuring the #SLPeeps” (Booth #1823). With the help of a community of speech-language pathologists who post on Twitter under the hashtag #SLPeeps, numerous social media teaching sessions will be held at the booth.

The Social Media Learning Center was a natural extension for PediaStaff. The firm has close to 33,000 followers on Pinterest, almost 6,800 on Twitter, 2,600 on Facebook, and 5,500 in its LinkedIn Group. PediaStaff was featured by a major social media blog for its Pinterest strategy, and they have the #1 education-related site on Pinterest worldwide. At last year's convention, the firm's popularity on Pinterest drew a large number of SLPs to its booth because they wanted to learn about the social network, said PediaStaff Partner Heidi Kay, who heads up the firm's social media efforts.

“It has become clear to us that participating in social media is about far more than just Pinterest and that PediaStaff could facilitate further learning about the other great social platforms available,” Kay said. “So the idea for the ‘Social Media Learning Center' was born. What better use of our Career/Professional Development Fair booth space than to be able to sit down with SLPs who have not yet discovered how these tools can help them become more complete clinicians?”

The booth will include rotating sessions on using Twitter, Pinterest, and SLP blogs in addition to General Sessions in which PediaStaff will field questions about any social media site, Kay said. The social media booth with also include a “Tweet & Greet” session in which anyone who currently tweets with the #SLPeeps can record a video message introducing themselves to put a "face with the twitter handle." The videos will be uploaded to YouTube.

In addition, PediaStaff is sponsoring a Learning Lab titled “Cutting Through the Hype, Essential Social Media Tools for SLPs,” which will be held on Friday from 3:30-4:15 p.m. in Learning Lab #1 (Booth #849) in the main Exhibit Hall. This sit down class will introduce clinicians to the major social media platforms being used by SLPs and why they should be using these tools.

Maggie McGary, who manages ASHA's social media channels said, "Pediastaff does an incredible job with their social media engagement. They are a great example of a company that does social media ‘right' – adding value and sharing helpful resources instead of just using social media as a straight marketing channel. The quality of Pediastaff's blog and Pinterest boards are excellent, and their use of Pinterest is seriously one of the finest examples among brands worldwide. The interest and enthusiasm around the #SLPeeps is inspiring, and I know the Social Media Learning Center will be a big hit with attendees."

PediaStaff's recruiters will also be available at their main booth (#1020) to discuss pediatric and school-based careers for SLPs. The recruiters will be joined by representatives from Top Echelon® Contracting (TEC). As the contract staffing back-office for PediaStaff, TEC serves as the Employer of Record for the contractors PediaStaff places. The TEC representatives will discuss with candidates the benefits they can receive while working on contract and address any other questions they may have about employment through TEC.
