Property Crime ↓
For 2011 there were fewer property crimes reported than the previous year. For San Antonio, overall property crime fell by about 8.5%, well above the national trend with saw only a .5% decline in 2011.
Among the individually tracked categories, drops in the number of reported burglaries and larceny thefts more than offset the increase in auto thefts for the year, which were up 4.2%.

Theft ↓ 8.8%
Auto Theft ↑ 4.2%
Violent Crime ↓
For 2011, violent crime fell by 16.5% primarily based on decreases in robberies and aggravated assaults. Among the individually tracked categories both homicides and forcible rape showed increases in 2012.
Homicides ↑ 12%
Rape ↑ 5.35%
Robbery ↓ 24.4%
Aggravated Assault ↓ 15.5%
Although national trends for crime did fall in 2011 for both property and violent crime, San Antonio saw greater decreases than the national averages. Nationally, property crime decreased 0.5% and violent crime decreased 3.8%.
