Under Armour Announces Opening of its First Specialty Retail Store in Baltimore
Harbor East Location to Offer Elevated Personalized Shopping Experience
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) November 01, 2012
Under Armour (NYSE: UA), the leading performance apparel, footwear and accessories brand, today announced that it will be opening a new specialty retail store in a prominent Baltimore location. The Under Armour® Specialty Store at Harbor East is expected to open in February 2013, with construction to begin in November 2012.
Featuring men's, women's and youth apparel, footwear and accessories, Under Armour Specialty Store at Harbor East will be staffed with experts within each product category to provide athletes with the most personalized and superior shopping experience. With a focus on innovation and design, the Under Armour Specialty Store will ensure that all customers receive guidance and recommendations that are tailored to their unique training needs, with the end-all goal of outfitting them in the perfect Under Armour head-to-toe products that will make them look, feel and perform their best.
“The Under Armour Specialty Store at Harbor East provides us with a new opportunity to advance our mission to make all athletes better and to provide our consumers with an elevated retail shopping experience and the largest depth of product offerings at retail to date,” said Henry Stafford, Senior Vice President, Apparel, Accessories and Outdoor, Under Armour. "We are especially excited to bring this Specialty Store to our hometown of Baltimore and to expand our commitment to the community through local partnership activations, exclusive local-inspired product offerings, and the introduction of a more educational, interactive and rewarding shopping experience."
The Under Armour Specialty Store at Harbor East will be housed at 700 South President Street and will occupy approximately 8,000 total square feet, with 6,100 square feet of retail space. The new space will be specially designed to give the consumer the full Under Armour experience, highlighting key head-to-toe product stories with superior lighting, focused product assortments, and fun storytelling. Through the use of cutting-edge technology, the Specialty Store will communicate and educate the consumer about new UA innovations and designs, telling the brand story through state-of-the-art digital displays that will act as a point of information, as well as inspiration.
The brand's new specialty store is the latest example of Under Armour's fortification of its presence in the Baltimore area and its commitment to consumers and residents throughout the region. Earlier this year, Under Armour announced “WIN Baltimore,” an empowerment program designed to generate positive social change throughout the city and its surrounding communities. The first “WIN Baltimore” initiative culminated last month when the brand unveiled renovated facilities at Baltimore's Paul Laurence Dunbar High School for Health Professionals, including a new turf field, track, and state-of-the-art computer labs. Under Armour also partnered with the NBA and the city of Baltimore earlier this year to restore The Dome, an iconic basketball court, in order to provide young athletes with more opportunities to play the game they love.
