About Bruce M. Owen, Ph.D.
Dr. Bruce M. Owen is the Morris M. Doyle Professor in Public Policy and the Director of the Public Policy Program at Stanford University. He is also the Gordon Cain Senior Fellow in Stanford's Institute for Economic Policy Research. Earlier he was a faculty member in the Schools of Business and Law at Duke University and at Stanford University. Dr. Owen has served as the Chief Economist of the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and, earlier, of the White House Office of Telecommunications Policy. Later, as co-founder and CEO of Economists Incorporated, Dr. Owen consulted to the World Bank on legal and judicial reform projects, advised the Argentinian government on antitrust law, served as an expert witness in a high profile antitrust and regulatory proceedings and advised government agencies in Mexico, the U.S. and Peru. Dr. Owen is the author or co-author of numerous articles and eight books, including; Television Economics, Economics and Freedom of Expression, The Regulation Game, The Political Economy of Deregulation, Video Economics, Electric Utility Mergers: Principles of Antitrust Analysis, Economics of a Disaster: The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill and The Internet Challenge to Television.
