Utilities Employees Credit Union Provides Disaster Recovery Assistance to Utility Workers Affected by Hurricane Sandy
As utility company workers across the East Coast labor around-the-clock to serve customer needs, Utilities Employees Credit Union is reaching out to utility workers who were themselves affected by Hurricane Sandy's widespread damage.
Wyomissing, PA (PRWEB) November 01, 2012
Utilities Employees Credit Union (UECU), a virtual credit union serving the U.S. utility and energy industry nationwide began efforts this week to provide disaster recovery assistance to utility workers and their families affected by Hurricane Sandy.
In the aftermath of the hurricane, utility workers across the East Coast are working around-the-clock to restore service and ensure safe conditions for utility customers who experienced outages. Often the same utility workers have families who were themselves affected by storm damage that will require costly repairs. Utilities Employees Credit Union is reaching out to utility workers and their families who are UECU members to let them know there are options to mitigate these financial burdens.
“Many of our credit union members live in areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy,” says Mike Malone, Lending Manager for UECU. “We care about our membership and especially want to help those facing hardships from this natural disaster.”
UECU offers a Disaster Recovery loans program to serve members with recovery and repair expenses in the wake of natural disasters such as severe storm events.
“We are prepared to lend money on special rates and terms, and to provide relief to members with existing loans,” says Malone. “Affected members are encouraged to contact us so we can take a look at their individual circumstances.”
While UECU members reside in all U.S. states, high concentrations of its 45,000 members are located in East Coast states, including energy and utility employees, family members of utility workers, and former and retired industry workers. UECU offers life-long credit union membership with nationwide account access, regardless of where workers and their family members move or travel.
UECU members may obtain information about disaster recovery loans by calling 800-288-6423, extension 4001 or visiting http://www.uecu.org. Utility workers and companies interested in obtaining these and other financial benefits may visit http://www.benefits.uecu.org.
