Calgary Company Sets New Standards in Employee Benefits

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 2, 2012) - Providing employee benefit programs isn't unique, but doing it the way Vital Benefits Inc. does sure is. This Calgary based company is proving that success is all about creating a new model in an old business and it's paying off in growth and recognition.

Started by sisters Melanie Jeannotte and Laura Barkley just six years ago, Vital Benefits has created a model to educate clients and advocate for them when working with their benefit, insurance, and pension-plan providers. The result is growth of 25 to 40 percent a year, virtually no staff turnover and a list of more than 100 corporate group clients in Canada.

Today they've been named to Avenue magazine's 2012 Top 40 Under 40 list. Laura Barkley, Partner and Director of Operations says, "It's an honour to be included in the company of so many other great winners and to be recognized for excelling in our chosen field." She says, "Our business is really about creating a great environment for our employees who believe in what we do, which translates into a deep commitment to our customers."

Recently featured on the cover of Advantage magazine, Melanie Jeannotte, Managing Partner and CEO says, "We are more than just trusted advisors to our clients; we are a true extension of their human resource departments. When our clients go out after work with their team, we often get invited as a part of that team."

Supporting the local business community was the reason they started Vital Women, a group that offers female entrepreneurs a forum to share ideas and best-practice advice.

"We realized early on that we just want to connect," Melanie says, "when we help each other solve problems, everyone wins."
