ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Gregory D. Chafee has joined the firm as a corporate and energy partner in the Atlanta office. Chafee serves as vice chair of the American Bar Association Energy and Environmental Markets and Finance Committee and was the chair of his prior firm's Sustainability practice.

“Greg's addition strategically enhances our existing Energy practice. His two decades of experience as an energy lawyer and corporate counsel enable him to understand our clients' needs and expectations,” said Frank D. Chaiken, leader of the firm's Corporate Transactions & Securities practice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Greg to the corporate group and to expand the firm's Energy practice into the Atlanta market,” added Russell J. Rogers, partner-in-charge of the Atlanta office.

Chafee served as the first vice president, general counsel and secretary of DS Waters of America and Danone Waters of North America, representing market leading brands including DANNON, EVIAN and CRYSTAL SPRINGS. He previously served over a decade with Georgia-Pacific Corporation as associate general counsel and energy counsel, where he was responsible for legal matters for the Commercial and Communications Papers divisions of the global consumer products manufacturer. Chafee's practice covers a wide range of domestic and international corporate, commercial, transactional, regulatory compliance and governance matters, with a focus on energy projects, clean technology and sustainability. He provides strategic advice and counsel to power project developers, owners, operators, lenders, private equity and venture capital investors, suppliers and services providers on matters including project finance, operations, mergers and acquisitions and the construction and operation of power generation facilities. He has negotiated and structured complex transactions involving electrical production, oil, natural gas and LNG transmission and distribution and the generation of energy from solar, biomass, combined heat and power, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, waste-to-energy and other renewable resources.

“Thompson Hine is a great fit for my practice,” said Chafee of his decision to join the firm. “Thompson Hine has an established Energy practice, and I look forward to bringing my clients the resources offered by the firm's other practices, including Environmental, Construction, Intellectual Property, Real Estate and Tax.”
