Paralyzed Vet Wants to "Pencil You In" for a Great Cause
Dan Kaminski, a Nevada-based paralyzed veteran with an eye for collectible Americana, is raffling off a unique vintage pencil dispenser to help his fellow veterans with disabilities.
The unforgettable item was featured on a recent edition of The History Channel series American Restoration. The proceeds will benefit the vital programs of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Nevada Chapter of which Kaminski is president.
"When I saw the pencil dispenser, it immediately reminded me of my childhood," said Kaminski. "I knew it needed quite a bit of restoration. That's where Rick came in."
“Rick” is, of course, Rick Dale whose business, Rick's Restoration, is featured on American Restoration. He and his "loose screws," as his staff of restorers are affectionately known, worked their magic and the pencil dispenser is as good as new.
Now anyone can have a chance to own the pencil dispenser by visiting www.pencilraffle.blogspot.com and purchasing raffle tickets for $5 each. The drawing will take place in February 2013.
"As we approach Veterans Day, this is a great way to support our local veterans with disabilities and their families -- and to possibly win a little piece of history. Buy a raffle ticket. Support paralyzed veterans and their families," said Kaminiski.
