Alvarez & Marsal Completes First Wave of Valuation Services Practice Build-out
Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has added more firepower to its business advisory practices by completing the first wave of the build-out of Valuation Services by opening offices in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and hiring world class professionals in those cities. This is directly on the heels of its previous announcement regarding Valuation Services launches in Chicago, New York, Seattle and Washington D.C.

Our practice complements all of A&M's service offerings by delivering rigorous, independent valuation-oriented support for financial reporting, tax reporting, transaction review and approval, regulatory, and dispute purposes.”
Gregory Campanella – San Francisco
Mr. Campanella has provided valuation, transaction and financial advisory assistance for more than 15 years. He specializes in valuations for tax and financial reporting and has worked with clients across various industries, including technology, life sciences, media and entertainment, business services, manufacturing, retail and gaming. His experience includes business enterprise valuation, encompassing significant work with the valuation of control and minority equity interests, debt instruments, and the valuation of complex financial instruments. He also brings expertise in the valuation of intangible assets including patented and non-patented technology, trademarks and trade names, customer lists, customer contracts, covenants not to compete and other intellectual property assets.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Campanella was a managing director and the western region leader for the Valuation and Financial Risk Management practice of Navigant Capital Advisors. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego, a law degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, and a MBA from the University of Southern California.
Richard Law – New York
Mr. Law specializes in the valuation of business interests including business enterprise, common and preferred equity, warrants, stock options, debt securities and other liabilities, with extensive experience in the valuation of intangible assets and intellectual property. Mr. Law has issued valuation opinions for a variety of purposes with an emphasis on financial reporting and tax matters. He has worked with clients across various industries, including publishing, education, consumer products, food/beverage, paper and packaging, apparel, business services, retail, wholesale distribution and industrial products. Prior to joining A&M, he spent 10 years with American Appraisal in New York, where he most recently served as northeast practice leader. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Seton Hall University and graduated magna cum laude with a MBA degree from the Mendonza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
Mark McMahon – New York
With over a decade of experience in the valuation of illiquid securities and interests across various strategies and asset classes common to alternative asset managers, Mr. McMahon, previously a managing director at Duff & Phelps, will lead the portfolio valuation group. In providing valuation advisory services to private equity, hedge funds and business development companies (BDCs), he has performed valuations of portfolios of illiquid private loans, as well as convertible preferred and common equity, warrants and other derivatives. Mr. McMahon's experience also includes the valuation of underlying portfolio companies for private equity funds, as well as management, carried interest and incentive fee entities of private equity and hedge funds in connection with tax planning, purchase price allocations, impairment testing and restructurings. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond's E. Claiborne Robbins School of Business and a MBA from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Kimberly Russell - New York
As the former head of the Financial Valuation Group for American Appraisal in New York, Ms. Russell specializes in the valuation of business and business interests including enterprise, common and preferred equity, stock options, debt securities and other liabilities. With more than 17 years of extensive experience in the valuation of intangible assets and intellectual property, she has worked with clients across various industries, including media and entertainment, financial services, pharmaceutical, business services, insurance brokerage, wholesale distribution and industrial products. A graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, she earned a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Philip Wisler - Philadelphia
Mr. Wisler brings significant expertise in transaction opinions (fairness opinions, solvency opinions and debt opinions) as well as valuation advisory services. During his 22 years as a corporate finance consulting practitioner, most recently as a managing director at Duff & Phelps, he was involved in more than 650 valuation, financial consulting, transaction support and buy-side/sell-side advisory projects encompassing a wide range of industries with significant concentrations in energy, financial services, and healthcare. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a MBA with concentrations in accounting and finance from Drexel University.
