Twisted Pair Demonstrates Enhanced PTT Functionality for Mobile Workers Using Smartphones, Tablets and Other Handheld Computers over Any Network
Twisted Pair Solutions Inc., a recognized leader in mobile workforce communications today announced that it has enhanced the capabilities of its WAVE Mobile Communicator application by enabling secure one-to-one PTT communications for users of smartphones, tablets and handheld computers. Organizations with a mobile workforce can now enjoy public PTT team communications, private PTT for individual conversations, as well as presence and mapping all from a single application.
Twisted Pair will be demonstrating the WAVE Mobile Communicator and its capabilities at the Trimble Dimensions customer conference and exhibition, Stand #511, in Las Vegas from November 5-7, using a broad selection of devices, including leading Trimble ruggedized handheld computers and tablets such as the Juno T41 and the Yuma 2.
Mobile communications for the field services industry continues to undergo rapid change, driven in part by the availability of high-performance smartphones and tablets running critical business applications, like the WAVE Mobile Communicator, and connected over public broadband networks. But the inability of traditional providers like Sprint - which has failed to evolve and provide a credible successor to its once industry-leading iDEN service - has only accelerated the industry's move towards application-based solutions that leverage device and network independence to deliver the next generation of mobile workforce communications.
“For years, organizations with mobile workforce have been forced to deploy standalone two-way radio systems, proprietary PTT solutions or provide mobile workers with company issued cell phones, none of which allow seamless communications between office-based and mobile workers,” said Tom Guthrie, Twisted Pair's President and CEO.
“The WAVE Mobile Communicator continues to set the standard for business-grade PTT communications, allowing any two iPhone, Android, BlackBerry or Windows Mobile devices to connect over any public cellular or private data network. In rolling out advanced PTT capability for all the leading platforms, we're delivering the technology that organizations need for their mobile workforce communications.”
The WAVE Mobile Communicator augments and extends mobile workforce communications by enabling smartphones and other handheld computer to securely communicate with any other communication system. With the WAVE Mobile Communicator, smartphone users can simply and inexpensively communicate securely with individuals or groups on other smartphones, with mobile workers on LMR networks and with users in their office environment.
WAVE has a number of flexible deployment options. It can be deployed as an on-premise or private-cloud solution for organizations that are highly sensitive to network and data security, or have extensive investments and capacity in their IT infrastructure. It also can be delivered as a cloud service, which promises significantly lower IT costs by avoiding the overhead associated with implementing conventional software in data centers with dedicated staff. WAVE Connections is Twisted Pair's ground-breaking PTT subscription service for organizations that are serious about their mobile workforce communications while not wanting to manage an on-premise system.
Private PTT functionality for the WAVE Mobile Communicator for Android and iOS will be available in Q4, 2012.
