US Foods "Food Fanatics" Named Judges for World Food Championships with Adam Richman
US Foods, one of the country's most innovative food companies and leading distributors, today announced five US Foods chefs will determine who wins the inaugural World Food Championships this weekend in Las Vegas. The World Food Championships is today's highest stakes food competition. Hosted by “Man Vs. Food” star Adam Richman, the competition kicks off today and pits more than 300 competitive chefs from all over against each other for portions of the $300,000 prize purse offered for categories of American-inspired cuisine, including barbeque, burgers, chili, sandwiches and side dishes.
US Foods Food Fanatics and Chefs, Todd Pearson and John Byrne will judge. As the first US Foods chefs to earn the prominent “Food Fanatics” designation, both Chefs Pearson and Byrne competed earlier this year against eight other US Foods chefs in a two-day, Iron Chef-style competition that tested culinary skills and knowledge, giving them great perspective on what it takes to win in a food competition like the World Food Championships.
US Foods Chefs Rocco Paradiso, Bill Brooks and Vic Vegas will also sit on the judging panel and coach contestants for the Burger, Sandwich and Side Dish Competitions.

In their role as Food Fanatics, they travel across America to share their food passion and expertise to inspire customers and others in the industry to become more successful. They share cutting-edge ideas and information, analyze menus and provide samples of the latest trend-setting products.
“Judging food involves all five senses. You want your first bite to be a small bite because you want to experience the smell, the visual appeal, the first taste, the touch on your lips and sound within your mouth,” said Byrne. “It's not only about the flavor. It's also about the use of color and texture. Chefs are like artists and the food is their palette.”
The winners of each category will face off at “The Final Table” where Richman and a panel of celebrity judges, including US Foods Food Fanatic Todd Pearson, will choose the ultimate champion and award a $50,000 grand prize.
