UCubed: Jobless Will Vote Their Empty Wallets
The Union of Unemployed (UCubed) asserts today's unemployment number released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) will have little effect on jobless voters on Election Day.
“This BLS report is still three years late and three points too high,” said UCubed Executive Director Rick Sloan. “America's jobless wanted to be back at work when the Great Recession ‘ended' in 2009. Obviously, that didn't happen.”
“For voters from jobless households, these monthly numbers no longer matter,” continued Sloan. “On Tuesday, they will vote with one number in mind -- the number of months since their last paycheck.”
With over 131,000 activists who regularly connect with over 34.7 million Facebook friends, UCubed represents a significant demographic in the upcoming elections. UCubed was formed to assist the millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans, and to provide a structure that allows them to take advantage of their growing numbers.
