Tropical Storm Sandy complicates travel for participants heading to the North Carolina Biofeedback Society conference taking place November 2-4, 2012 in Greensboro, but the conference will proceed with a panel of experts on trauma including BFE Director Mark Schwartz.

Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) October 31, 2012

Health professionals from all over North America are scheduled to meet this weekend at the North Carolina Biofeedback Society's Annual Conference. The theme of the conference is Trauma and the Brain Body Connection and BFE “Learn From the Best” Program Director Mark Schwartz will focus his presentation on how to help people get through difficult times. He explained, “I really hope I can make my journey to Greensboro on Thursday as I have an important message to deliver. Very few people have ever heard about the latest biofeedback technology that not only makes people aware of what is going on inside of them, but can be displayed in real time on a cell phone, tablet or giant screen with wrap around sound. As soon as the person becomes aware of their thoughts and feeings they can do something about them!”

In the aftermath of Japan's earthquake and tsunami, BFE President, Dr. Erik Peper traveled to Japan to teach groups of professionals strategies to reduce stress and prevent PTSD. In disasters of this magnitude there are psychological scars that remain even after the immediate physical needs of the victims have been met. Presenters at the NCBS conference know how biofeedback can help people become aware of the hurricanes inside of them. Whether they be the result of the devastation caused by a natural disaster, a divorce, a lost job or war - awareness is the key. The sooner people are made aware of what is going on inside of them and seek professional help to overcome it, the sooner they can get their minds and bodies focused on the job at hand and building a better future for themselves, their families and their loved ones.

First Diplomas to be Awarded to Two Licensed Counsellors in North Carolina
The BFE's new Diploma Program is designed to train licensed and qualified professionals to lead seminars on specific topics, like trauma and biofeedback. Collaborating with community leaders and service providers in the regions they serve allows them to refer people for help with biofeedback as soon as possible. Mr. Schwartz is also at the conference to award the first two diplomas to Maggie Minsk, LPC, NCC, GHt and Sue Intemann, MA, LPC, BCB; past President of the society. As the first two graduates of the program in the USA, they are expected to record webinars and present at a series of regional seminars and workshops to fulfill the mission of the UK non-profit to expand the visibility of biofeedback throughout the state. At the conference, they will share ideas and knowledge on current practice by LPCs, LCSWs, psychologists and other health professionals working with trauma patients.

Breathing Better with EZ-Air Plus
For the many people looking at broken trees, broken homes and even broken lives, we often here “take a deep breath”. One of the most important first steps in dealing with trauma is learning proper breathing techniques. The BFE offers a program called EZ-Air Plus that allows the user to place a small bargraph or linegraph on their computer screen to pace their inhalation and exhalation. It is available for a 30-day free trial on the BFE website at http://www.bfe.org.
