Hero and Princess Quest for Good in New Book

Author Jerry Smith announces his new narrative poetry book ‘Tapestry'

Harwich, MA (PRWEB) October 31, 2012

In his new book “Tapestry: A Medieval Tale of Curses, Crowns, and Courage” (published by iUniverse), author Jerry Smith uses narrative poetry to tell a tale of fantasy and magic centered on a gentle princess and her hero.

In a world of dragons, knights, kings and powerful wizards, a young, honorable man is enlisted as a princess's champion, protector and, ultimately, reluctant hero. Deftly navigating a maze of lies, jealousy and madness in search of truth, justice and honor, the unlikely pair unite to overcome the death, darkness and destruction unleashed upon their land by an evil, power-hungry mage and a sinister, scheming sorceress.

An excerpt from “Tapestry”:

“. . . darkness consumes all of the cold, snow covered land
As evil still pours forth from the grey mage's hand
The dark cloud filled skies hide the brilliant golden sun
As now the day and cold black night have become one
No more doth birds' beautiful songs fill morning's air
This once peaceful land plunged deep into great despair”

Although the story is told in rhyming couplets and takes place in a magical, historical fantasy setting, Smith believes readers will form powerful connections with his book. “‘Tapestry' is extremely relevant today,” he says. “We struggle with the realities of life versus death, good versus evil, truth versus deception, kindness versus cruelty, and love (tested by the destructive nature of hate that breeds fear and self doubt) – all of which are necessary to overcome through perseverance and inner strength to gain the knowledge needed to build and shape the destiny of our own lives.”
