Ultimate Memory Announces the Possible Positive Effects of Smoking on Memory Improvement
East London University research suggests that smoking may have positive effects on improving memory, states Ultimate Memory, a leading producer of memory software. Electronic cigarettes may be the answer for smokers in allowing them to not experience dramatic losses in their working memory.

Recently-published research on a study done by Dr. Lynne Dawkins of East London University suggests that electronic cigarettes (or "e-cigarettes") with small traces of nicotine may be the missing link that smokers have been looking for. E-cigarettes have been found to control nicotine cravings of smokers who are trying to quit, and have allowed them to not exhibit significant drops in their working memory while withdrawing from frequent smoking.
“While we do not promote smoking, we do find the latest research on e-cigarettes to be very interesting,” states Marc Slater of Ultimate Memory. “If e-cigarettes are a way for smokers to not have dramatic decreases in their working memory while working on quitting smoking altogether, then we are all for it. To improve memory is definitely our focus here.”
According to the latest research, those people who have quit smoking without the help of e-cigarettes, nicotine patches, or any other nicotine supplements, have been shown to experience dramatic losses in their working memory. Their working memory does not improve until their bodies are able to adjust to the reduction in nicotine. However, by using e-cigarettes with small amounts of nicotine, smokers did not experience dramatic losses in their working memories. E-cigarettes were found to control the cravings of men more than women. Perceptions of how people feel when smoking e-cigarettes in public were not evaluated and will need to be researched in the future.
“The results are definitely noteworthy," adds Mr. Slater. “However, we at Ultimate Memory do feel continued research needs to be conducted in this area before any definitive conclusions can be made. Still, the best solution would be not to start smoking at all, but that goes pretty much without saying.”
