As part of a continuous improvement programme, Rochford Engineering Ltd engaged Assess Improve Measure Ltd to implement a new T-card system to monitor and control stock and production.
With several hundred batches of work on the shop floor at any one time, Rochford Engineering required a simple and rapid solution to improve visibility of work in progress and ensure the highest possible customer service levels.
With assistance from AIM Ltd Rochford Engineering has introduced a T-card system allied with a clear Route Card for each batch of work. The system is a manual device using T-cards to represent all the batches of work-in-progress and stock. T-Cards give management and operators immediate visibility of the status of work-in-progress, and helps reduce delays and late deliveries, enabling better shop floor performance and ultimately much higher customer service.
Founded in 1980 Rochford Engineering Ltd is a privately owned business operating from the heart of Birmingham. They have gained an excellent reputation supplying metal components to a variety of industries including, earth moving, bicycles, glazing, leisure and automotive.
As a preferred supplier to JCB, Rochford Engineering recently began an investment program to upgrade their capacity, increase customer advocacy and improve efficiency on the shop floor. Linked with the Assess Improve Measure Ltd lean implementation which took place during 2011 the investment in new machinery and new processes will further improve capability, quality, efficiency and delivery times.
