Industrial Fiber Optics and Optical Transceivers Provider Firecomms Answers Customer Demand with DC-Capable RedLink Transceivers and Small Footprint LC Transceivers for Plastic Optical Fiber and Hard Clad Silica Fiber
Firecomms announces an expanded product line that includes DC-capable fiber optic devices targeted to industrial applications, and the first range of popular LC connectors specifically designed for plastic optical fiber (POF) and hard clad silica (HCS), also called plastic clad silica (PCS).
Cork, Ireland (PRWEB) October 30, 2012
A global leader in the provision of fiber optic solutions and optical transceivers, Firecomms announces an expanded product line that includes DC-capable devices targeted to industrial applications, and the first range of popular LC connectors specifically designed for plastic optical fiber (POF) and hard clad silica (HCS(R)), also called plastic clad silica (PCS).
“Our innovative technology enables us to readily answer our customers demand for LC transceivers for POF, and for an additional supplier of DC-capable industrial transmitters and receivers,” says Hugh Hennessy, Firecomms Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With the overwhelming response from our customers, we expect the continued growth of our product portfolio to be well received in the industrial market.”
RedLink Transceivers for Industrial Segments
Responding to customer demand for a second source for the Versatile Link from Avago Technologies, Firecomms is introducing its new RedLink(TM) series of DC-capable transmitters and receivers for industrial applications.
Drop-in compatible with the Versatile Link range of products, its RedLink product line extends Firecomms' well known capabilities for high-speed POF transceivers and interface innovation into the high reliability industrial requirements of the DC-capable realm. Firecomms entrance into the Industrial transceiver market will provide assurance for customers concerned about continuity of supply.
Initially the RedLink product line will include DC-1 Mb, DC-5 Mb, DC-10 Mb, and DC-50 Mb fiber optic transmitters and receivers. All RedLink optical transceiver products will be rated at the extended industrial temperature range of -40~+85 degrees C.
Adds Hennessy, “The introduction of Firecomms RedLink transmitters and receivers will provide existing users of Versatile Link devices with an additional source for these fiber optic products, thus expanding the usage of this innovative and versatile product range.
LC Transceivers for POF and HCS/PCS
Firecomms is the first to announce LC connectors designed for use with POF and other large core glass fibers such as HCS, which comes on the heels of the release by the IEC of the second edition of standard IEC 61754-20 that broadens the use of the LC connector beyond glass fiber. Known for its compact form factor, the LC connector is widely used in the optical networking industry.
Firecomms will offer several new LC fiber optic products which are cost effective alternatives to customers using LC-terminated glass fiber transceivers in SFP formats. Firecomms 650 nm LC transceivers will be available in data rates of 125 Mbps, 250 Mbps, and 1.25 Gbps.
Benefits of Firecomms Fiber Optic Transceivers
All Firecomms' fiber optic transmitters, including RedLink, LC and OptoLock, leverage the company's well known Resonant Cavity LED (RCLED) technology to provide long term reliability in lifetime performance.
Firecomms' optical transceiver products offer superior galvanic isolation and EMI immunity over traditional copper electrical signaling links. Optical cables also provide the added benefit of significant weight reductions and minimized complexity.
