Hooves & Paws Rescues Escaped Slaughterhouse Pig

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

Norman is a very special pig and animal rescue whose intelligence and craftiness saved his life. Norman was only a couple months old when he gained his freedom by crawling under the chain link fence at the slaughterhouse. After escaping from the slaughterhouse, he was found by an animal lover and brought to our sanctuary Los Angeles pet shelter.

We do not know how badly Norman was abused at the slaughterhouse, but he is terrified of people. We are doing our best to help him become more comfortable at our sanctuary and he is slowly making improvements. Even though he has not yet bonded with any of our volunteers, Norman already has a special friend. He is bonded with Nacho, a pig in an adjacent pen. Nacho also escaped a slaughterhouse several years ago. We believe that, in time, Norman will learn to trust humans. He is still very young and until his rescue, he had only known abuse. Now, he is greeted everyday with kindness. He has nutritious food, soft bedding and plenty of treats.

Pigs are very intelligent and sensitive animals. Norman is a survivor and his tenacity was the reason he was able to escape and to save his own life. Now, at our sanctuary, he will be protected for the rest of his days. Here at Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue, a Los Angeles pet shelter, we rescue animals like dogs, horses and farm animals and provide them with lifelong care at our sanctuary. Norman joins over 100 other animals who were once abused, neglected or abandoned and are now enjoying the safety and love provided by our compassionate staff of volunteers. Our rescued animals are rehabilitated and available for adoption. Those who are not adopted, are guaranteed a safe haven at our sanctuary.
