Jakeman Shaklee Oliver Now Offers an Online Application for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
New federal policy allows qualified immigrants who came to the United States prior to age 16 to work legally and reduces the threat of deportation for at least two years. National immigration lawyers at the firm of Jakeman Shaklee Oliver, PS (http://www.jakemanlaw.com/) now offer a DACA Center for submitting your application online.
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) October 25, 2012
For the tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants in the United States today, deportation is a real threat. New federal policy, first introduced in June 2012 in the form of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) now provides temporary protection from deportation and a mechanism whereby many of these foreign nationals can get a work permit and social security card. In many states, once they get a social security card, they will also be able to get a driver's license. Under this program, the threat of deportation is deferred for renewable, two-year periods. The immigration law firm of Jakeman Shaklee Oliver, PS (http://www.jakemanlaw.com/) is now offering immigrants direct assistance as they navigate the DACA application process.
Using their DACA Center, applicants can provide their information to the immigration attorneys of JSO and receive assistance in both preparing and submitting applications for approval to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”). The immigration attorneys at JSO work with applicants to make sure their applications are completed quickly and accurately. DACA cases are approved on a case by case basis by the USCIS, a division of the United States Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”).
For a flat fee of approximately $750, immigrants who meet the eligibility requirements (which include arriving in the United States prior to age 16, residing within the US for at least five years, currently attending school or having graduated from high school or its equivalent, and having no serious criminal background) will be able to apply for deferred action through JSO's DACA Center. Once approved, and they receive their work permit and social security card, they will be able to work legally in the United States and to live without the constant threat of deportation. Deferred action, however, should not be mistaken for permanent residency or citizenship, and there is still a risk of deportation should unforeseen circumstances arrive such as subsequent criminal convictions or a change in federal policy.
The immigration attorneys at Jakeman Shaklee Oliver are committed to helping immigrants receive the immigration benefits they deserve and qualify for. For these youth who are American in every way but on paper, that includes staying in the United States with Deferred Action. According to Jakeman, “Most of these undocumented immigrants were brought here by their parents as young children or as infants. They have assimilated into American culture, and the United States is now their home. This is where they have gone to school, and where their friends and families live.”
JSO strongly recommends that immigrants work with actual attorneys, not merely “immigration consultants” or “notarios” because of the complicated nature of the immigration laws and the serious, inherent risks involved when submitting immigration applications. “At JSO, we have seen time and time again, the terrible consequences of using non-lawyers for immigration assistance. It is very common for “notarios” and other “immigration consultants” to submit applications for individuals who do not qualify, have serious criminal history, or who otherwise are at great risk of being placed into removal proceedings.”
DACA Center applicants can communicate directly with their attorney and paralegal at JSO via email and telephone. All immigration lawyers at JSO speak Spanish, making communication with their large Hispanic clientele more efficient, accurate, and convenient.
