B&H Photo Video is pleased to share with the photography community the launch of the NIKKOR AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED VR Telephoto Zoom Lens, the V2 Mirrorless Camera, and the SB-N7 Speedlight flash

B&H Photo Video is currently accepting pre orders on the Nikon 70-200mm f/4G ED VR telephoto zoom lens. Designed for full-frame Nikon FX-format cameras, this G-series lens is also compatible with Nikon's cropped DX-format cameras. When attached to a cropped sensor camera, it turns the 70-200mm focal length into the 35mm equivalent of a 105-300mm zoom - with a maximum f/4 aperture throughout the zoom on either FX- or DX-format. Several advanced Nikon technologies combine to provide this lens with exceptional optical quality, and helpful features for low-light shooting, including Vibration Reduction (VR), three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) Elements, a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), and several optical glass coatings.

The f/4 maximum aperture also enables lighter weight, compared to an f/2.8 or wider maximum aperture optic, making this lens ideal for traveling and fast moving outdoor photography. The constant aperture also greatly benefits HDSLR applications, allowing one to maintain the widest possible f/-stop while zooming during video recording. An internal focusing mechanism helps to maintain a constant overall length of the lens when zooming and focusing, which also benefits overall usability and enables closer focusing distances. A Silent Wave Motor (SWM) benefits HD applications as well, by providing smooth, fast and quiet focusing that can instantly switch over to manual-focus operation by simply manually rotating the focus ring. Its Vibration Reduction system has been improved and now affords an equivalent five stops of image stabilization that also adds to the speed afforded by its mechanical design. This enhanced stabilization, coupled with an overall weight of 30 ounces and seven-inch length, creates an ideal balance between portability and handheld usage.

In regard to optical performance, the Nikon NIKKOR AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED VR telephoto zoom lens features Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat that reduces lens flare and ghosting, resulting in a clearer, sharper image in various lighting situations. Three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements also contribute to overall sharpness and afford a noticeable reduction in chromatic aberration and distortion throughout the focal range. For close-up photography, this lens provides a minimum focus distance of one meter and a maximum magnification of 1.36x for near-macro photography at a respectable distance from your subject.
