EcoFoil® Teams Up With Tiny r(E)volution Blogger to Provide Insulation Products for Tiny House Building Project
E-commerce retailer EcoFoil provides radiant barrier and bubble insulation to Andrew and Crystal Odom as they construct a 300 square foot home, and share their story on their blog, Tiny r(E)volution.us.
Urbana, IA (PRWEB) October 24, 2012
When bloggers Andrew and Crystal Odom set out to pursue their dream of minimalist living, building a home under 300 square feet was at the top of their list. After downsizing their belongings, they began designing and constructing living space on a heavy-duty trailer. Dubbed their “tiny home,” it utilizes sustainable building supplies, solar power, recycled items, and eco-friendly products.
As a manufacturer of eco-friendly reflective insulation, e-commerce retailer EcoFoil became a sponsor of the project, and supplied bubble insulation, perforated radiant barrier, and insulation tape to the project. In April, the installation of the EcoFoil products was chronicled on the Odom's blog, Tiny r(E)volution.us.
EcoFoil merchandise manager Kati Davis, says it's exciting to be involved in the tiny house project, particularly since EcoFoil products feature the qualities the Odom's were searching for in building supplies: eco-friendly, cost-effective, and easy to install. But Davis is quick to point out that EcoFoil also differs from other products in its energy efficiency: “There are lots of types of insulation products on the market, but what makes EcoFoil insulation different, is that it actually stops up to 97% of radiant heat transfer; other products like fiberglass and cellulose insulation only slow down heat transfer,” said Davis.
In addition, says Davis, reflective foil products are clean, waterproof, non-absorbent, and simple to install, claims that most other insulation products can't match. For the Odom's, these qualities fit the bill for their tiny home. The couple says they also chose to team with EcoFoil because the company's core values of eco-responsibility, USA-made products, and community investment, mesh with their own beliefs.
While the Odom's smaller square footage project is unique, EcoFoil's product line also includes items for more traditional construction applications, including under concrete insulation and insulation for basement walls, under slab foundations, cathedral ceilings, crawl spaces, drafts, HVAC duct work, stud walls, garage doors, floor joists and roofs. According to Davis, EcoFoil can be installed anywhere you might install regular, traditional-type insulation as a way to boost energy efficiency.
“In addition to residential use, EcoFoil products work equally as well in commercial building, and even specialized spaces like storage sheds and pole barns," said Davis. "Regardless of the application, we offer expert advice from experienced installers by phone or email.” The Tiny House blog includes video of the EcoFoil installation process.
