Infocast Presents Mississippian Formation, Responsible for Oil Boom in Kansas and Oklahoma and Believed to be Bigger than Bakken
Discover the Opportunities Associated with Drilling in this Emerging, Lucrative Shale Play
Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2012
Infocast, the leading business intelligence and networking events producer in the oil and gas industry, presents the Mississippian Formation Summit in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 28-29, 2012. It will serve as the only event in the industry that brings together key stakeholders across the spectrum with the goal of getting deals done.
An oil boom is happening in southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma where the Mississippian formation is located. Oil rigs are springing up in farmers' fields and the once-quiet farm towns are rapidly transforming into oil boomtowns. There is also a land rush, in which rent has tripled, as E&P companies try to get a piece of the emerging play. The Mississippian limestone of northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas is believed to be the hottest oil play in North America.
Over a year ago, oil companies began exploring southern Kansas and saw enormous potential in the area. Because of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, it is now possible to tap into the oil-rich Mississippian limestone formation and rarely come across a dry hole. Because of the geology of the formation, production costs are lower than in many other plays. In addition, the results of drilling are enduring the assessed, significant amounts of oil. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists estimates Mississippian wells will cost less than $2.5 million each, but have an estimated ultimate recovery of up to 400,000 barrels per-well. Furthermore, recent estimates show there are about 15 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
Infocast's Mississippian Formation Summit was designed to provide stakeholders, the investment community and field services the opportunity to discuss the geology, investment potential, land leasing information as well as all of the associated opportunities that go with drilling in this profitable, hot oil and NGL-rich play. Participating market leaders and stakeholders include Angus Natural Resources, Bakers Hughes, Dodge City & Ford County Development Corporation, Drilling Info, Plains All American Pipeline, Spyglass Energy Group LLC, Kansas City Southern, High Sierra Energy, Wells Fargo Energy Capital and more.
