Opera Worcester, Inc. is proud to present a specially designed opera production titled ITALIAN OPERA'S GREATEST MOMENTS on Saturday, October 27 at The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester. This special performance highlights eight of the most well-known Italian opera composers, making it the first time in Worcester's history that so many acknowledged opera classics have been performed in one evening. ITALIAN OPERA'S GREATEST MOMENTS is presented by the orchestra and cast from Michael Capasso's Dicapo Opera Theater in New York, with Mr. Capasso himself as the narrator.

Recently, “New York Magazine” called the Dicapo Opera Theatre “the closest thing New York has to a mini-Met.” The “Huffington Post” wrote, “In a city that has less and less truly artistic venues, The Dicapo Opera Theatre is an example of the finest New York has to offer for both the uninitiated and the connoisseur.”

The program includes arias, duets, and ensembles from eight of the most well-known Italian opera composers (Verdi, Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Puccini, Mascagni, Giordano, and Donizetti). Nine highly talented singers and the orchestra (under conductor Pacian Mazzagatti) will present 23 pieces from 19 different operas, including such masterpieces as “Nessun Dorma” from “Turandot” (Pavarotti's signature piece), “Un Bel Di” from “Madama Butterfly,” and “Libiamo” (the drinking song) from “La Traviata.”

Tickets are $49 and $59* with a $5 discount available for members of The Hanover Theatre, groups of 15 or more and corporate partners. All children and student tickets are $25 and are available in the rear orchestra. Tickets are available online at TheHanoverTheatre.org, by phone at 877.571.SHOW (7469) and at The Hanover Theatre Box Office located at 2 Southbridge Street in downtown Worcester.
