Students in Quebec and Ontario Win Top Prizes in Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 29, 2012) - Students from Saint-Lambert, Quebec; Brantford, Ontario; and Lawrenceville, Georgia shared more than $2,000 in prize money in the Fraser Institute's annual essay contest.
The Fraser Institute, Canada's leading public policy think-tank, sponsors an annual essay contest to recognize outstanding student writers from around the world and provide them with the opportunity to share their ideas on public policy and the role of markets.
This year's topic "Are the rich getting richer and the poor poorer?" attracted a record 500-plus entries from university and high school students worldwide.
The winning essays were selected by a panel of policy experts at the Fraser Institute. Entries were judged on several criteria including understanding of competitive markets and economic freedom, originality, and clear expression of ideas.
