HOUSTON, Oct. 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The City of Houston is moving its facility for Houston Television (HTV) to a new and improved state of the art studio. The current location at Houston Community College's Administration building in midtown will soon operate from City Hall. HTV's staff aims to use its upcoming City Hall location to continue growing and become an even bigger asset to the city and the community.

Viewers can find HTV's programs on cable channels such as Comcast Channel 16, Sudden Link Channel 14, AT&T U Verse Channel 99, and Phonoscope Channel 2. HTV also features programming on Houston's Voice. "Houston's Voice is an amazing project which is the product of the Project Open Voice pilot program. This internet platform broadcast solution is offered to local producers at no charge. I think this is the one of the best examples of corporate involvement. HTV is proud to participate in the Houston Voice program offered by Comcast." says Dwight Williams, Division Manager, Mayor's Office.

The channel's award-winning content includes topics on severe weather education, post-traumatic stress disorder (featuring local veterans and police officers), and Rodeo Houston. It also features an informative and exciting reality program called "Academy 193" which follows the training of Houston Police cadets.

HTV makes its studios available for rental to the general public. It provides services and assistance with set design, media kits, sponsorship, marketing and promotions. For more information, go to http://www.houstontx.gov/htv.
