FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Allied Electronics held its sixth annual United Way Campaign during the month of September. Allied and its employees pledged and donated more than $37,000 to the organization, with the majority of funds to be deducted from employee payroll checks during the 2013 year. Employees will give approximately $26,000 from their own pockets, and the company will donate the remainder.

"The United Way Campaign is our biggest outreach into our local communities each year, and our combined efforts make a real difference," says Allied President Lee Davidson. "I am proud of Allied team members and their continued commitment to people and our community."

Allied's employee council, responsible for corporate community outreach, coordinated the campaign with a goal to increase the number of givers from last year. The council focused on educating employees that small donations can make significant differences. More than 188 employees across the country made pledges to United Way. Employees also contributed by: participating in an ice cream social and breakfast burrito sale, donating loose change, and paying two dollars to wear jeans for a day.

"Allied Electronics continues to be an exemplary partner with United Way of Tarrant County," says Crystal Alba, director of resource development for United Way of Tarrant County.  "Allied Electronics has raised over $100,000 in the past five years and put in over 80 hours of volunteering at local partner agencies.  Together, with partners like Allied Electronics, we will reach our goals to get the results our community needs."
