Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Donates $10,000 to American Cancer Society in Oklahoma City
As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. decided to give back to the communities in which its restaurants are located and today awarded $10,000 to the American Cancer Society (ACS) in Oklahoma City.
The donation – presented today at the Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant located in the Bricktown section of Oklahoma City – is the highlight of a recently-completed, national 40th anniversary celebration photo album contest, in which Spaghetti Warehouse joined with local ACS units in 13 markets from across the country to raise awareness and support for cancer research.
In doing so, Spaghetti Warehouse awarded $10,000 to the ACS unit in Oklahoma City for submitting the most photos of ACS supporters from among those taken at Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants nationwide as part of the photo album contest.
“On behalf of everyone at Spaghetti Warehouse, we are pleased and excited to support the great and compassionate work of the American Cancer Society,” said Azam Malik, president and chief operating officer, Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. “This is very special…knowing it benefits everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer and whose families and friends see a brighter future because of the tireless efforts of the American Cancer Society.”
For its part, the American Cancer Society expressed its appreciation for the support it received from the Dallas-based restaurant chain.
“We are very grateful for this generous gift from Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants,” said Lauren Anderson, community manager, high plains division, American Cancer Society. “This partnership was able to reach so many people and touch many lives.”
Locally, Anderson credited the Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurant in Oklahoma City for serving as “…a force in the community towards the fight against cancer.”
According to Lisa Parsons, general manager, Spaghetti Warehouse, the most memorable moment of the contest took place this past summer. Spaghetti Warehouse hosted a group of children – participating in an ACS camp for kids going through cancer treatment or recession. “Seeing the smiles on their faces, I knew for that moment, they were not worried about their illness. We made a difference in their lives…it is nice to know that you work for a company who really cares,” said Parsons.
