Gen. Colin Powell and Ted Koppel to Headline 2012 World Energy Engineering Congress in Atlanta Oct. 31 – Nov. 1

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is pleased to announce the World Energy Engineering Congress' (WEEC) return to Atlanta. This year's event will be held October 31 to November 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The 35th WEEC will feature more than 250 speakers, including opening session speakers General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.); Georgia Governor Nathan Deal; JT Grumski, senior vice president and business unit general manager of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC); Jay Hakes, director of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum; and Susan Story, president and CEO of Southern Company Services; along with closing keynote luncheon speaker Ted Koppel. General Powell, former US secretary of state and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will speak on leadership during crisis and change. Ted Koppel, special correspondent, NBC News' Rock Center, contributing columnist for the New York Times, and legendary anchor of ABC News' Nightline, will address how current events in the Middle East will impact energy prices and the results of the presidential election will influence future energy policy.

Additionally, the 35th WEEC will feature the newest, most cutting-edge energy technologies in the marketplace. Ford is the WEEC's alternative vehicle sponsor, promoting test drives of its newest automobiles, the Focus Electric and C-MAX Hybrid. Noesis will be showcasing its free cloud-based energy management software, Bosch will be exhibiting its solar and energy efficient geothermal heat pump and BritePointe will be highlighting its extremely energy efficient LED lighting solutions. Other new technologies on display include kWhOURS, Inc.'s tablet-based software application for building assessments and Trane's ultra-efficient commercial grade HVAC systems.

The WEEC is hosted by SAIC and is presented by AEE featuring association leader, the Alliance to Save Energy, along with U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR, platinum sponsors Bosch Thermotechnology Corp. and Georgia Power, a Southern Company, along with numerous other sponsors.

The WEEC will feature a large, 14-track conference agenda, a full line-up of seminars on a variety of current topics and a comprehensive 100,000 square-foot exhibition of the world's most promising new technologies.

As the nation's largest energy efficiency conference and exposition, WEEC will address new advances in lighting, HVAC, and energy management technologies. Exhibitors and presenters will also discuss energy policy, high performance buildings, and energy management “best practices” for the federal, commercial, institutional, and industrial marketplace. Stimulus funding updates, green jobs, and financing will also be covered in detail by several speakers.
