The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) to Host its 2012 Annual National Conference Sept. 19-22 in San Antonio

With the annual theme “Creating a Culture of Healthy Sexuality: Shaping the Future,” the SASH conference will host seminars from renowned professional leaders experienced in sex addiction and sexual health and SASH will launch its first professional training certification program (ATPSB).

The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) will host its annual national conference on Sept. 19-22, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas at the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk. The purpose of conference is to gather SASH members and non-members of the mental health profession as well as students and examine sex addiction and how to move from addiction to healthy sexuality. Psychologists, therapists and clinicians from across the country will be attending the conference entitled "Creating a Culture of Healthy Sexuality: Shaping the Future.” Registration is still open.

With a wide mix of seminars, trainings, social events, book launches and resources, the 2012 SASH National Conference will host current therapists and students of therapy to further their causes in treatment or the study of sex addiction.

Kelly McDaniel, therapist and author of Ready to Heal: Breaking Free of Addictive Relationships will be one of the presenters at the conference. “This is a fabulous opportunity to meet some of the most exceptional clinicians in our country,” says McDaniel. “The information and professional wisdom shared is unparalleled.”

The Conference will feature:

Tobi Fishel, PhD, Director of Psychological Services Vanderbilt Center for Integrative Health; Patrick Carnes, PhD, Executive Director of the Gentle Path program at Pine Grove Behavioral Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and Alexandra Katehakis, MFT, CSAT-S, CST-S is Founder and Clinical Director of the Center for Healthy Sex in Los Angeles, California.
  • SASH is also announcing the launch of its new certification training program called Advanced Training in Problematic Sexual Behaviors – ATPSB which is greatly needed for a wide range of practitioners and therapists nationally. “Currently, there is a critical shortage of peer-reviewed, evidence-based material and training in the area of problematic sexual behaviors,” says Robin Cato, executive director of SASH. This is in contrast to the continued explosion of problematic sexual behaviors that clinicians are facing.” Levels one and two are each 16 hours programs that can be completed in two days of training at the SASH conference on Sept. 19-20. Normally, the total cost of the program would be $1,900 paid in two installments but for this initial offering, the level one training will be offered for $800.
