CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Roger Atkins, Vice President of Sales & Marketing of MIC Group in Brenham, Texas, has been elected 2012 Chairman of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) Board of Trustees. His election was held last week at the annual Manufacturing for Growth (MFG) Meeting in Orlando, FL co-hosted by NTMA.

Atkins will preside over the organization's Board of Trustees, which comprises representatives from each of 45 local NTMA chapters, and will head the NTMA Executive Team whose other members also elected today include Robert Mosey, Vice Chairman of the Board; Ted Toth, Secretary; John Lewis, Treasurer; and Immediate past NTMA Chairman Grady Cope.

“I am honored to assume this important position and to succeed Grady Cope, whose tireless efforts as Chairman has brought NTMA to national prominence and solidified our organization as a leading voice for manufacturers in this country,” said Atkins. “I plan to build in Grady's legacy by ensuring that critical challenges faced by our members, including a shrinking skilled workforce, tax reform and rising energy costs among other issues, receive the attention they deserve from elected officials in Washington and around the country.”

“Roger has played a critical role in developing numerous important NTMA initiatives, including workforce development programs, educational programs and our Washington, DC advocacy efforts,” said NTMA President Dave Tilstone. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to provide our members with programs that help them succeed, and also continue our national program to promote the importance of the custom precision manufacturing industry to our economy.”

At MIC Group, Atkins has spearheaded company growth from $22M to $156M, while leading the acquisition of three companies and the start-up of two international locations. MIC Group serves the oil & gas, aerospace/ordnance, and industrial component industries. The company machines complex parts from exotic materials, including mechanical/electrical assembly and complete turnkey services both domestically and internationally as a Master Manufacturer.

Atkins is a second generation NTMA member. His father, Don Atkins, owned and operated Aero Instrument Company, a precision machining and sheet metal fabrication company that joined NTMA in 1968. Atkins began his career at Aero Instrument Company, and then went on to join Bernhard Knust Company, another NTMA member, where he led internal sales growth from $8M to $56M and served in key management roles.

NTMA Vice Chairman Robert Mosey is President of Moseys' Production Machinist in Anaheim, CA; NTMA Secretary Ted Toth is President of Toth Technologies, in Pennsauken, NJ; NTMA Treasurer John Lewis is President of Lewis Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ; and, Immediate Past NTMA Chairman Grady Cope is President & CEO of Reata Engineering & Machine Works, Inc. in Englewood, CO.
