The scholarship awards are in recognition of Loyola University New Orleans's 33-year history of providing world-class higher education to America's nurses in a healthcare marketplace struggling with increasing numbers of patients needing regular care and a significant shortage of nurse leaders. A pioneer in adult distance learning, the environment and design of the online MSN at Loyola is a convenient, cost-effective way for nurses to meet their personal and career goals.
“Our nation's nurses face a serious career dilemma, one where higher education is essential for career advancement and stability but demanding work schedules often make traditional classroom learning impossible. We believe every nurse is a leader, and our online Master of Science in Nursing program provides a solution at a top ranked graduate program.” says Ann H. Cary, PhD MPH RN, Professor and Director of the School of Nursing at Loyola. This solution meets the Institute of Medicine, Future of Nursing (2011) recommendations to prepare nurse leaders. “Our online MSN program features a specialization in Healthcare Systems Management to prepare Loyola graduates for leadership roles in a variety of healthcare environments. Flexibility is key in today's fast-moving healthcare marketplace, and the distinguished online faculty at Loyola University New Orleans brings a wealth of experience from multiple venues of the healthcare industry to help students generate maximum career returns for their investment in education.”
To apply for the scholarships, prospective students are asked to submit an essay to Loyola University New Orleans Online that explains what nursing means to them and what a Master of Science in Nursing with a Healthcare Systems Management Specialization would mean for their careers. Loyola faculty and staff will review submissions and select the winners. Once accepted into the online MSN program, scholarship recipients will receive a $4,500 credit to their tuition costs over the course of the two-year program.
Scholarship and admissions applications are now open at http://scholarship.loyolaneworleansonline.com/msn. The first scholarship winners will be announced shortly before the Summer 2012 semester that begins in May.
