Drive for Newest Technology at the Heart of Russell Standard

Among the products developed by Russell Standard many have led to lasting infrastructure as well as significant cost savings for customers. For example, Polypave is an asphalt mix that can be installed rain or shine and is designed to fill potholes quickly and effectively.

Polypave is made from a polymer-modified asphalt emulsion and is designed to repair potholes without using the harmful hydrocarbon-based solvents found in conventional pothole patching materials. The product adheres to both wet and frozen surfaces and can be stockpiled for over one year, making it environmentally friendly and cost effective.

Another example of the technology that Russell Standard provides its many clients is Grip-Tight, a polymer-modified asphalt emulsion that is specially designed for fog seal and flush coat applications. What sets this product apart from its competitors is its ability to allow traffic to begin flowing within 15 to 30 minutes of application. This product also expands the service life of road shoulders by two to three times the normal expectancy.

To address challenges during nighttime paving, Russell Standard developed C.N.T.T.C. (Cationic Non-Tracking Tack Coat) or trackless tack to provide a quick curing tack coat that would perform well in a variety of paving conditions. Trackless tack ensures both shear strength and tensile strength between bonded asphalt layers resulting in less slippage. Yet another feature of this product is that it does not adhere to tires as they ride over newly installed pavement.

The company's latest technological advancement, FIBERMAT, licensed through Midland Asphalt Materials, Inc., seals the road surface and establishes a layer of fiber that reduces cracks in the roadway. In documented testing, FIBERMAT has proven to enhance the surface stability of a road while spreading the stress of cars traveling above over a greater area.
