The Hartford Discusses Strategy And Financial Outlook At Investor Meeting

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The Hartford will present its 2012 business strategy and financial outlook at an investor meeting in New York City today. The company's priorities include accelerating the pace of change and achieving increased efficiency goals.

“The Hartford is focused on continuing to improve its performance and increase shareholder value,” said Liam E. McGee, president, chairman and CEO. “We are aggressively managing the levers we control, focusing on growth where we can generate appropriate returns, and driving greater efficiencies to ensure that the company's expense base is appropriately sized for the current environment.”

“Over the last two years, the management team has made significant progress in transforming the company, including improving its financial strength, risk profile and enterprise risk management. We are prudently deploying capital to create value in our businesses and also focused on returning capital to shareholders through dividends and planned share repurchases,” added McGee.

The Hartford's Chief Financial Officer Christopher Swift will provide a fourth quarter 2011 and full-year 2012 outlook; and provide insight into the company's plans to increase and accelerate expense reductions. In addition to McGee and Swift, presenters will include Doug Elliot, president of Commercial Markets; Andy Napoli, president of Consumer Markets; and Dave Levenson, president of Wealth Management.

The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST and will be simultaneously webcast at http://ir.thehartford.com. Presentation materials will be accessible on the website at approximately 8:45 a.m.
