Convergys Executive Honored at Asia CEO Awards

Convergys executive Marife Zamora was named Global Filipino Executive of the Year at the Asia CEO Awards ceremony on November 10. Marife is a senior vice president at Convergys and the managing director of Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa for the company's Customer Management (CM) business, where she oversees about 37,000 employees in contact centers throughout the United Kingdom, India, and the Philippines. Presented by American Express, the Asia CEO Awards recognize outstanding leadership achievements by individuals and organizations in the Philippines.

Under Zamora's leadership and management, Convergys now operates 17 contact center facilities in the Philippines. Since establishing the company's first site in the Philippines in 2003, Convergys has been honored many times for its customer service excellence, its talented employees, its expertise, and its leadership. In 2010, Convergys won the “BPO Company of the Year” award at the International ICT Awards, and also was inducted into the Philippine Economic Zone Authority Hall of Fame after winning both the Outstanding Employer and Outstanding Exporter awards three times in each category.

This year nine nominees among the best business leaders in the Philippines were considered for The Global Filipino Executive of the Year Award.

Judging criteria for this award includes the following: management achievement – the Filipino leader should have demonstrated specific situations or projects where his or her organization was led to a new level of growth, achievement or recognition; financial contribution – the Filipino leader's achievements should have resulted in a major financial input to his or her organization; international recognition – the Filipino leader's accomplishments should be internationally recognizable as important to his or her organization; pioneering achievements – the Filipino leader should have demonstrated products, services or techniques that are considered unique or innovative in its sector and of recognizable international importance; and, social commitment – the Filipino leader should have demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of the nation's economic capability.
