Veteran Guard Marquis Daniels And The Q6 Foundation Host Annual Foundation Weekend In Orlando, FL

Orlando native and NBA Veteran guard Marquis Daniels will present his 5th Annual Celebrity Weekend benefiting his foundation- The Q6 Foundation that supports local area charities.

NBA star and Orlando native Marquis Daniels and The Q6 Foundation will host their 5th Annual Celebrity Weekend benefiting several local and national initiatives in Orlando, FL- July 14-17th, 2011. This years' weekend of philanthropic fun will feature a Champions Dinner, Community Kickball Challenge, special event at the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge at The Amway Center hosted by Grammy Award winner Kelly Rowland, Foundation Champagne Brunch amongst other activities to raise money and awareness in support of the foundations' causes. Charities and programs benefiting from the weekend include local and national Sickle Cell Awareness, Parramore Kidz Zone and Edgewater High School Athletic Department.

“I am excited to celebrate the 5th anniversary of my charity weekend in the city that I most love, Orlando, FL. As we go through this crucial time in basketball, it is important that as role models, we continue to give back to those less fortunate and support local and national efforts. In regards to sickle cell anemia, both my mother, and daughter both carry the trait for this disease. It is my purpose to continue to raise money for research and to uplift my foundations mission in the community that raised me and ‘Give Back for Good'.”

ABOUT Marquis Daniels
Marquis Daniels is 9-year veteran Guard in the NBA. Daniels attended Edgewater High School in his hometown of Orlando, FL, as a 3 year starter before transferring his Senior year to MT. Zion Christian Academy in North Carolina. He received a basketball scholarship to play for Auburn University. During his celebrated tenure, Auburn University reached the Sweet 16 in the 2003 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Daniels graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Sociology in just three-and-a-half years. Daniels entered the NBA in 2003 playing for the Dallas Mavericks. He was selected to the 2003 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Daniels has continued to enjoy a 9-year career in the NBA and appeared every year in the NBA Playoffs playing for teams such as Dallas Mavericks, Indianapolis Pacers and Boston Celtics.

Marquis Daniels is known for his athleticism and dunking skills on the court as shooting guard for the Boston Celtics, but Daniels also has a generous, giving heart, and is passionate about helping those that are less fortunate. From sponsoring youth AAU basketball teams to organizing scholarship fundraisers for high school athletes, this Orlando native remembers his roots and contributes to people in need in many ways. Daniels has been giving back to his community, by donating his time and resources for years. So, in 2007, he decided that he was “Giving back for good,” and established the Q6 Foundation as a non-profit organization to accomplish his goals of giving back to underprivileged children from his hometown of Orlando with outreach in Indianapolis, Dallas and Boston.
