MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the electronic test and measurement (T&M) market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Agilent Technologies Inc, with the 2010 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement of the Year for its ability to continuously evolve and adapt to external market changes. The main strength of Agilent is the extensive length and breadth of its product line.

With a wide offering in bench top, modular and handheld instruments, and measurement science, Agilent has leveraged its technical expertise and R&D investment capabilities to add additional test tools to its modular product range. In fact, at the Autotestcon 2010 held in Orlando, Florida, Agilent unveiled a slew of 47 modular products based on the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) and also the emerging AdvancedTCA Extensions for Instrumentation and Test (AXIe) standards.

Agilent's focus on the modular PXI and AXIe market adds a significant addition to the company's product portfolio, thus enhancing customer value. This wide-ranging list of products also helps the company cater to a number of different industry verticals, including communication industries such as cellular, wire line and wireless communication, and electronics industries such as aerospace and defense, components and devices, control and automation, among others.

"Agilent's dramatic expansion of modular T&M products is yet again testament to Agilent's ability to gauge changing market/customer needs and its willingness to expand its product development strategies to accommodate those needs," states Frost & Sullivan research analyst Vijay Mathew. "Customers can now choose from the hardware platform of their choice including GPIB, PXI, AXIe, VXI, USB, LXI while leveraging programming environments such as MATLAB, LabWindows CVI, Visual Studio, LabView and VEE."

Some of the significant products under this new modular family are M9202A PXIe 12-bit Wideband IF Digitizer, M9302A PXI Local Oscillator, M9360A PXI Attenuator Preselector, M9210A PXI-H 10-bit Digitizing Scope, M9330A PXI-H Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG), M9361A PXI Downconverter, M9018A 18-Slot PXIe Chassis, M9211A PXI-H 10-bit UWB IF Digitizer, and M9331A PXI-H AWG.

The strategic venture marks a new era in Agilent's history, leveraging its technical competencies and knowledge of the T&M market, an industry the company has dominated over the past decade. The company's revenue for the quarter ending October 2010 accounted to $1.58 billion, which is a 35 percent increase from the revenue of the same quarter of 2009. With the introduction of its wide range of modular products in September 2010, the company's market scope and penetration potential have expanded further.

To summarize, when benchmarked against other competitors in the T&M space, Agilent has consistently set new levels of leadership and innovation in the space. Based on these factors it is the worthy recipient of the 2010 Global Customer Value Enhancement of the Year Award in the electronic T&M market.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively create value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment customers make in its services or products. The award recognizes the company's inordinate focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and ultimately customer base expansion.

Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.
