WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2010) - Sandvine, SVCSAND a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced it has completed interoperability testing of its Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) with Alcatel Lucent, Intracom Holdings, Redknee, and Tekelec's Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) platforms. In January, Sandvine and Openet demonstrated operability via a joint customer win. Earlier this quarter, Sandvine had announced interoperability with Bridgewater Systems' PCRF.

Sandvine's policy enforcement capabilities, combined with these well regarded policy management platforms, are consistent with Sandvine's support of 3GPP standards-based end-to-end solutions for operators worldwide. The PCRF's function of provisioning the subscriber entitlements is complemented by Sandvine's subscriber, application, location, and device awareness for fine granularity policy decisions, actions and reporting.

"According to Morgan Stanley, the demand for mobile broadband is growing steadily with over one billion data subscribers online today," said Tom Donnelly, EVP marketing and sales, Sandvine. "Network operators are looking for products and solutions that can be deployed quickly and effectively to keep up with network demand. Pre-integrated products are easier to deploy and can reduce timelines for rolling out new and differentiated services."

Sandvine's network policy control solutions include:

-- Scalable quota management based on subscriber entitlements using
optimized rules-based Gx interface between Policy and Charging
Enforcement Function (PCEF) and PCRF network elements
-- Fair usage policies that allocate network resources among subscribers
using flexible real-time policy control and advise subscribers of actual
usage as policy thresholds are exceeded
-- Enforcement of parental controls for limiting children's Internet usage
based on time-of-day, application, and duration
-- Unified policies to support subscriber mobility across converged
fixed/mobile access networks.

"We are pleased to have successfully completed interoperability testing with these leading vendors to better enable our mutual customers to deploy a wide range of standards-compliant solutions," said Mr. Donnelly. "Operators worldwide are addressing network growth with policy control solutions, which improve network performance and efficiency, while ensuring the highest possible subscriber experience."

Sandvine's solutions detect network conditions that trigger policies within the network to help service providers enhance subscribers' Internet experience. Sandvine's platforms and products provide network policy control solutions for unparalleled network reporting, capacity planning, congestion management, new personalized service creation, malicious traffic mitigation and enhanced customer service.
