MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 11, 2009) - In 1989, Spiro Krallis, a 27 year-old Montrealer, prepared the very first Dagwoods sandwich in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. He developed and mastered a unique concept in Montreal, upon which the Dagwoods fame has been built: delicious cold cuts sliced in front of customers, enhanced by the incredible Dagwoods sauce and toppings and bread of uncompromising quality and freshness!

Mr Krallis spread his vision brilliantly. 20 years later, Dagwoods counts 27 restaurants in the Montreal area, 5 of which were opened this past summer alone! Furthermore, Dagwoods is present at large-scale events, such as the Grey Cup, Nascar and the Montreal Grand Prix, to satisfy the appetite of avid sports fans!

Dagwoods upholds a philosophy of strong community relations and mutual aid. The company supports the Starlight Children's Foundation of Canada through the Christmas season sale of 20,000 stars in all Dagwoods restaurants, at the cost of $1 a unit, with all funds donated to the cause. In addition to sponsoring several other Quebec foundations and organizations, Dagwoods distributes all its left-overs to food banks.

Administered 100 % by local entrepreneurs, the success of Dagwoods rests on the dynamism of each restaurant's local team. Indeed, Spiro Krallis supports financially his experienced employees interested in becoming franchisees. Thus, managers under 30 can become business professionals and realize their personal aspirations, while promoting the Dagwoods values and motto to go "Where no sandwich has gone before."

Dagwoods, freshness at its best since 1989!
