The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.95 points to 10567.33 the Standard & Poor's 500 rose 5.17 points to 1145.61 and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 18.27 points to 2358.95. Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) went up 3.66% to $3.96 on 1.21 billion shares as private equity firm Apollo Management reached a deal to buy Citigroup Inc's real estate investment division, Bloomberg reported.
Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) continued the yesterday`s rally and was today up 2.34% to $1.31 on 36.32 million shares.
Fannie Mae (NYSE:FNM) gained 2.80% to $1.10 on 58.58 million shares.
Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) surged 1.85% to $17.11 on 222.93 million shares.
American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) soared 10.59% to $36.24 on 70.65 million shares. The company this week announced that an underwritten public offering of 8,466,693 shares of Transatlantic Holdings, Inc. (TRH) common stock owned by American Home Assurance Company (AHAC), a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc., was priced at a public offering price of $53.35 per share.
National Bank of Greece (ADR) (NYSE:NBG) also rose 1.40% to $4.34 on 5.45 million shares.
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) went up 2.04% to $29.57 on 42.57 million shares.
Lloyds Banking Group PLC (ADR) (NYSE:LYG) gained 2.79% to $3.32 on 4.74 million shares after Dow Jones reported that Lloyds TSB Bank PLC, part of Lloyds Banking Group plc, has priced its inaugural U.K.-regulated covered bond, via joint-lead managers Deutsche Bank AG, Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg, Natixis and Lloyds.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) jumped 1.20% to $42.93 on 40.90 million shares. JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s J.P. Morgan Worldwide Securities Services announced that it has been selected by the Government of Canada to provide an expanded set of collateral management services for derivatives.
