The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) declined 2.40% to $22.35 on 21.07 million shares after the company said Tuesday that its fourth-quarter profit in the quarter ended Jan. 30 fell to $255.4 million, or 39 cents a share, from $349.2 million, or 53 cents, a year earlier.
Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. (NYSE:DKS) lost 0.66% to $25.45 on 3.29 million shares after the company quarterly profit topped market estimates for the seventh consecutive quarter on strong sales of cold weather gear, and forecast a full-year profit that could meet or beat analysts' expectations. The company's fourth-quarter net income rose to $67.4 million, 56 cents a share, from a loss of $105.6 million, or 94 cents a share, a year ago.
