MEDIA ALERT: Initiate Demonstrates Integration with Allscripts at HIMSS10 Annual Conference & Exhibition, March 1-3, Atlanta
February 26, 2010 3:02 PM
As the national conversation on the significance of electronic health records (EHR) and physician connectivity persists, healthcare leaders, such as UMass Memorial Health Care, are turning to visionaries like Initiate Systems to connect with physicians and rapidly exchange information. The newly launched Initiate® Exchange integrates with Allscripts MyWay to connect referring physicians and rapidly enable information sharing among users. Offered through Initiate Exchange, this shared service provides significant benefits to healthcare providers including a reduced risk of duplicate patient records, time reduction in patient registration, and patient recognition across disparate systems.
During the HIMSS10 Annual Conference & Exhibition, Initiate will demonstrate how UMass, the leading healthcare provider in Central and Western Massachusetts, will use Initiate Exchange to share information within a community without compromising governance or ownership in a pricing model that works.
| What: |
Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in health information sharing, is proud to work with Allscripts to host a live demonstration focusing on how UMass will use Initiate Exchange to enable users to query local data with the option to exchange patient information among a broader community. Allscripts MyWay and Initiate Exchange are SaaS-based offerings that reduce technical integration challenges and issues with virtual private networks (VPNs.) |
|
| How: | When one of the five UMass hospitals registers a patient, the registration system will search the enterprise master person index (EMPI) for patient information. It will then access the UMass Health Care Community through Initiate Exchange, to bring together and search patient information made available across the acute and ambulatory health information sources. In a health system that includes 1,600 physicians, more than a million annual outpatient visits, more than 250,000 ER visits and nearly 59,000 inpatient stays – this is a complex and significant task. | |
| When: | March 1- 3, 2010 | |
| Where: | Initiate Booth # 7033. Appointments are recommended and can be made at the Initiate Booth. | |
