STORServer Extends Reach of Industry Leading Backup Appliance to Remote Office/Branch Offices and Datacenters

STORServer®, a leading provider of data backup solutions for the mid-market, today announces a new add-on for its industry leading Backup Appliance and existing IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) solutions that enables applications and users to get back up and running within minutes following any data loss while full recovery is performed in the background. The STORServer Backup Appliance with Instant Restore is designed to protect Microsoft Windows and Linux servers in remote or branch offices (ROBO) or to supplement the backup solution in a data center for mission critical applications.

The STORServer Backup Appliance with Instant Restore uses a block-level incremental forever backup method for both file system data and applications/databases. Since the Instant Restore backup operations complete quickly and without causing disruptions to production servers, they can be performed more frequently or even continuously, decreasing the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) in the event of any type of data loss. This reduces the amount of data at risk of loss from 24 hours with tape to as little as the last transaction with Instant Restore.
