WingTipIt announced today the launch of the new social shopping community – http://www.wingtipit.com. WingTipIt is your closet online – it's what you want, what you buy and what you choose to share. The site connects users with their existing social graphs - friends, family and trendsetters - in a fun, dynamic shopping community that gives online shoppers the ability to create their own digital closets, curate lists, collaborate with friends and family and buy directly from any online retailer. WingTipIt is Twitter meets your Universal Wishlist. It is a viral community where you can see a stream of popular products or “what's tipping” among friends and family. WingTipIt was created out of a need to better connect retailers with their online customers, and aims to recreate the fun, social in-store shopping experience in today's online shopping world. WingTipIt has more than 100 affiliate retail partners including Bloomingdales and Bluefly.

Gone are the days of shoppers sending product links, forgetting what they have browsed online or not receiving the affirmation from friends and family before buying. WingTipIt enables shoppers to add products to their Closet that they want or purchase from any online retailer with the use of the WingTipIt bookmarklet. The site enables shoppers to share and receive feedback instantly from their friends and family, as messages go directly to email and mobile and are also stored in each individual's Closet. Customers can buy directly from the retailer of their choice.

WingTipIt's easy-to-use platform helps shoppers filter through endless product options online and streamline the online shopping process. The site leverages social curation and its name reflects its core value, “wingmen sending product tips.” Unlike other social shopping sites that are celebrity or tastemaker focused, WingTipIt provides a solution for both men and women to get the advice and opinions of their trusted friends and family through their existing social graphs. WingTipIt reinforces the way people are shopping online while linking users with their friends and family in an enjoyable, yet practical way. The community will employ game mechanics through badges and status to identify trendsetters and keep shoppers engaged.

WingTipIt was founded by Carla Holtze and Kimberly Karpf Skelton, who met while at Columbia Business School. The idea to create a fun, easy social shopping solution was born when Kimberly was working at Tory Burch. She saw that retailers needed a better way to connect with their customers online and created WingTipIt to mimic the fun, social in-store shopping experience. Kim and Carla found that WingTipIt became an especially important tool for friends and family who were geographically separated and wouldn't have the option to physically shop together. Denise Seegal, a global leader and CEO with proven success building and managing brands across multiple distribution channels in the fashion industry for over 30 years, has joined as a strategic advisor. Her expertise in brand management, business strategy and merchandising has positively impacted the growth of Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Liz Claiborne, and Nautica. She also served as CEO of Sweetface Fashion, where she leveraged the JLO celebrity brand for Jennifer Lopez.

“We're thrilled to launch WingTipIt - our goal is to bring the social fun of shopping to the online world in an easy-to-use site that has sheer utility for the online shopper,” said Carla Holtze, co-founder of WingTipIt. “For many people, shopping is very much about sharing and getting feedback from those you trust. Up until now, it has been challenging for online shoppers to get the validation they need prior to purchase in a quick, simple and realistic way.”

WingTipIt plans to release a WingTipIt Mobile application in the summer of 2011
